We are very happy to welcome Nika Batista to our team at ONYX Art and Cultural Management. Nika will be joining us for the next three months.
Nika is an artist based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She comes from a background in fashion design but has moved her way through to performance art, by combining design and art in one harmonious sequence as she moves forward.
Nika puts human as the centrepiece in her creations. May it be a passive element or as an active participant; sometimes considered as a form of body or a conceptual inner inspiration; one or groups of them. May that be represented in an interactive installation, object or collection of them, clothing, art pieces, performance or any other undefined method of presenting her thought process and the creative realisation of the final form.
Human is one of her main focuses and she also feels the same strength in a need to convey a story or a message. A background concept that is not only used as an inspiration but portrayed as an active part of her finished piece.
In her recent work, she has been strongly influenced by the idea of how to portray something that is not tangible. Her latest performance E/IN MOTION in June 2019 was about visualising three selected emotions/moods: melancholy, admiration and intimacy.
